#CIPHERHUNT Day 14 Summary (STATUE FOUND!)

THE BILL CIPHER STATUE HAS BEEN FOUND!

(First on the scene was @shadow_wolfwind.)

As promised Alex released a new clue this morning.  

An urban legend arcade game
Gives the methods correct name 

Mathematically the letters hide

In branches & knots, no matter the side

The riddle is about using the Polybius square cryptography. (The first part is a reference to the Polybius arcade cabinet urban legend.) 

With these clues redditor, RunningIsFunny, figured out a name! (Which Alex later clarified after the statue was found.)

The answer leads to Reedsport, OR! Then using the edge of the rip as a map the location was further narrowed:

The treasure chest was filled with a number of goodies along with a ton of fake jewels and coins. Inside was:

• A fake gold crown.
• A red silk sash for “Mayor of Gravity Falls.”
• A music box that plays the theme song. Inside of which was A USB, a blacklight flashlight, and a note from Alex written in invisible ink. 
• The note said:

CONGRATULATIONS ON FINDING THE BILL CIPHER STATUE. BILL CIPHER’S FINAL RESTING PLACE. WHO SO EVER FINDS THIS STATUE IS THE NEW MAYOR OF GRAVITY FALLS, SO USE YOUR TITLE WELL. CHANCES ARE YOU DIDN’T DO THIS ALONE, SO SHARE THE WEALTH. YOU ARE AN AMAZING FAN.

• The USB had an audio file from Stan, congratulating the Hunters after singing a somewhat… eerie rendition of “We’ll Meet Again.” (Live stream of Hunters first hearing the file.)

*hacking coughs* Ugh. My esophagus. 

Hey, guys. Congratulations on finding my– mysterious treasure of the– statue in the forest! Um, this is it. You’ve reached the end. You really did it! You really… You looked for it and you found it. And um, now it’s yours. Uh… if you were hoping for some kinda like, cash prize… I can’t blame ya. But the real– the real treasure is the journey and the friends ya made along the way. ‘Case you don’t have any friends, which y’know… least you got some exercise. 

Um, anyway, take a good picture with the statue. Yeah- Shake his hand. That’s kind of like a prize. And, uh, tell everybody how you did it first. That makes you the best. Also, y’know if other people helped you, give them some of the gold plastic coins. Share the wealth! Anyway, congratulations! I’m Grunkle Stan, and as I always say… NO REFUNDS!

• A miniature Bill statue. (Copies of which will be available for sale at the end of August.)
• A somewhat smaller copy of Journal 3 with a sketch of Stan, McGucket, and Soos inside by Alex. Stan saying, “Enjoy this nerd book, smartypants!” There was also a blacklight Bill doodle saying, “Stay paranoid!”

• Loose bills of Japanese yen and Russian rubles. One of which had a mysterious note…

• A framed “photograph” of Dipper, Mabel, Stan, and Soos around the Bill statue. A blacklight message on it saying “Trust No One.”

The statue has been left in place. However, the material it’s made of isn’t that permanent! So if you plan on seeing it for yourself, better sooner than later!
